• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I studied in a convent school where English was given a lot of importance. From a young age, I was encouraged to read, speak, and write in English with confidence. This early exposure made me love the language naturally. Over time, I realized how effective communication in English can open doors for both academic and social success, which inspired me to take it up professionally.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  Teaching runs in my family. My mother and her ancestors were all teachers. I saw firsthand how sharing knowledge could change lives. During my own studies, I often helped my friends understand difficult concepts, and they would tell me that I explained things in a simple, unique, and creative way compared to routine memorization. That motivated me to make teaching my career.

• How does your work help society?

  Language is not just about grammar, it’s about confidence and connection. Through my teaching, I help students build their self-esteem, improve social interaction, and express themselves clearly. Good communication skills empower people in academics, careers, and everyday life.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  My biggest role model is my mother. She was extremely hardworking and chose to dedicate herself to teaching, unlike some teachers I had who had qualifications but didn’t focus on true quality teaching. She taught me that commitment and passion are more valuable than medals or titles.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Outside of teaching, I enjoy singing, dancing, and reading. These hobbies keep me creative and energetic, and they also help me connect with students in fun and engaging ways.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  Once I had an elderly student in her late 50s. At first, I was nervous about teaching her. I worried I might mess it up. But when I asked why she wanted to learn English at this stage of life, her answer touched me deeply. She explained that her elder son lives abroad, and since her grandchild would naturally grow up speaking English as a mother tongue, she wanted to learn the language to communicate with her. Despite holding a high-ranking government position and coming home exhausted from work, she still dedicated time to attend my classes and practice. Her determination showed me that learning truly has no age limit, and it inspired me as much as I inspired her.
