About Ruby

I am a professional actor and singer with a Masters in Musical Theatre from the Royal Academy of Music and a Diploma in Acting from The Actors’ Programme in New Zealand. My most recent credit was cover Fantine in the recent Les Misérables UK Tour. Back in New Zealand, I was a core cast member on the popular TV show Shortland Street, as well as starring in many pieces of straight and musical theatre, in various roles such as cast, producer, writer or collaborator. Between work I teach singing and drama. My teaching experience ranges from 6-year-olds to adults, from learning for fun to budding professionals - including leading a choir of 120 teenage girls - majority of whom did not consider themselves singers!

About the lesson

From personal experience, I truly believe the best teachers are those currently working professionally in the field they teach, in order to offer up-to-date advice and techniques. Every student is different and I work hard to adapt my lessons to the learning style of each student. In my lessons you will learn technique, artistry and confidence. Singing and acting are arts and should be enjoyable, but technique is important so that you may express yourself in a safe and natural way. Whether you want to learn for fun or train to a professional standard I can help you in refining your craft.

Perfect! I booked Ruby for my 12-year-old grandaughter. She found she was very supportive. Ruby could identify her strengths, weaknesses and truthfully identified where improvements were made. But best of all she made the learning experience fun. My granddaughter says "she is amazing and fun to be around. "
