About Megan

Hi, I’m a dedicated English tutor with over six years of experience in education, currently working in 7th and 8th grade reading intervention. As a single mom of two, I understand the value of patience, adaptability, and meeting students where they are. Much of my work is with neurodivergent students, and I specialize in helping students discover how they learn best. My approach is rooted in the belief that there’s no “one right way” to learn—just the right way for you. I use creative, student-friendly strategies to help each learner work with their brain, not against it. Whether we're building confidence in reading, tackling tricky writing assignments, or breaking down grammar in new ways, I provide a supportive, judgment-free space where progress is the goal. When we work together, you’ll not only improve your skills—you’ll start to see yourself as a capable, confident learner. And I’ll be with you every step of the way.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident, capable, and empowered to grow. I combine my 6+ years of experience in education with a flexible, student-centered approach that adapts to each learner’s goals and pace. I use a blend of direct instruction, guided practice, and interactive activities to reinforce concepts and encourage independent thinking. Whether we’re working on grammar, essay writing, or reading comprehension, I break down complex topics into manageable steps, ensuring students understand not just the "what," but the "why." My lessons often include: Real-life examples and relevant content Visual aids or slides for clarity Active feedback and revision strategies A focus on building long-term language skills, not just short-term fixes A typical 1-hour session includes: Warm-up: A short, confidence-building activity or review Core Lesson: Introduction of a skill or concept (e.g., thesis statements, verb tense, reading strategies) Practice: Guided practice with feedback Wrap-up: A recap and tips for independent study or the next session Each lesson is tailored to the student's needs, learning style, and goals. Background in education: I’ve taught in classroom settings for over six years, which means I know how to adapt quickly and explain things in multiple ways. Personalized support: I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all lessons. Every student receives materials and guidance tailored to their skill level, interests, and goals. Professional, yet approachable: I aim to make learning feel natural and stress-free, especially for students who feel anxious about writing or speaking.
