About Kaitlyn

I am a non-traditional, first-generation student in both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. And now my doctorate. Also, I was a single, parenting student to a young child during my academic journey. Current times and situations can be stressful, so I wanted to share my knowledge and experience virtually. I still consider myself a student of criminal justice and education. Currently, I teach as an adjunct instructor at two community colleges while I complete my doctorate online. I am a bit younger than some professors, and while I have received positive feedback from my classes in the past, I am still accepting and adapting to constructive criticism. Due to my age and experience, I prefer a more casual tone to lectures.

About the lesson

Teaching Method & Techniques: As a dedicated professor, I focus on creating an interactive, student-centered learning environment where active participation and critical thinking are at the forefront. I believe in tailoring my teaching methods to the individual needs of each student, whether through hands-on exercises, engaging discussions, or real-world applications of theoretical concepts. I use a blend of visual aids, multimedia resources, and personalized feedback to ensure a deeper understanding and retention of the material. Typical Lesson Plan: Each lesson is carefully structured to balance theory and practice. I then encourage students to apply the concept through interactive exercises, problem-solving, or case studies. The lesson wraps up with a discussion or Q&A session, allowing for clarification of doubts and reinforcing key takeaways. What Sets Me Apart. I adapt my approach based on student learning styles, ensuring that every student feels confident in tackling complex ideas. I strive to build long-term understanding rather than short-term memorization. Additionally, I offer consistent feedback, practical insights, and a collaborative approach to help students not just succeed, but excel. My favorite thing about criminal justice and criminology is that you can use real-life cases to convey the lesson.
