About Ashley
I am a fully qualified Primary Teacher and have been teaching for 14 years. I am now a Principal Teacher specialising in Numeracy and Maths. I specialise in developing understanding of the fundamentals of numeracy by teaching conceptual strategies. I have experience in teaching children to read independently, beginning with phonetic awareness, to write, count, understand number foundations and develop strategies to mental calculate.

I like to ensure I cater for different learning needs within my classes. I like to teach using concrete materials wherever possible. I allow for discussion about learning and also mistakes. I like to use ICT (powerpoints, videos etc) to deliver my lessons to make them more interactive and engaging. I differentiate my lessons to ensure the pupils receive work that is appropriate for their ability level. I ensure I encourage, support, challenge and praise.
