About Beth

Hello!

I have worked in education for over 8 years, being classroom based for 7 of these, and tutoring online for just over a year. When in schools I specialised in Key Stage 1 English development, but I also have many years experience with KS2 also. I was mainly placed in year 1/2 and 4/5 classes, and so I feel this is my specialist area. I have good knowledge of the core curriculum of English schools, and much experience implementing this knowledge.

I now work online, and tutor all ages from 4 to adult, so my practice and experience in teaching both on and offline is quite wide and well developed.

I would always say that patience is one of my strong personal values, and I have always been a champion of this in my professional conduct. I am sure the students and staff I have worked with over the years would agree that I am above all things kind and supportive of my pupils, and have a firm belief in the positive reinforcement needed for success. I do not think you can be successful in learning or life if you are treated badly, or not encouraged to succeed and be the best you can be, and my experience with mental health and emotional needs support places me in an ideal situation for championing the achievements of my students, however small they may seem.

I have developed many great relationships with those I have worked with, and take genuine and great joy in seeing students happy and enjoying my lessons; for years I have worked with children who are working at a lower level than their peers, and this became my specialism within my school career.
