Hello! My name is Christa, and I’m a passionate and experienced piano teacher with a bachelor's degree in Music from the University of the Cumberlands. With a strong foundation in both classical training and modern teaching methods, I bring a well-rounded and professional approach to every lesson. I understand that each student is unique, which is why I create customized lesson plans to meet individual goals, whether you're learning for personal enjoyment, academic development, or performance preparation. I believe that every student learns differently, which is why I take a personalized and flexible approach to teaching. My lessons are student-centered, combining foundational music theory with practical application to help students truly understand what they're playing—not just memorize notes. I incorporate various techniques such as ear training, sight-reading, rhythm exercises, and creative expression to ensure a well-rounded musical education.
A typical lesson with me begins with a quick warm-up and review of the previous material, followed by introducing new concepts or pieces tailored to the student’s level and interests. I always make room for questions, reflection, and encouragement, creating a safe and supportive learning space.
My lessons are ideal for beginners to intermediate players of all ages, whether you're just starting out, returning to piano after a break, or seeking to strengthen your technique.
