About Sarah

Teaching piano for four years has given me the chance to work with over 150 students, ranging from beginners to advanced players, each bringing their own aspirations and challenges. I strive to create lessons that are engaging, supportive, and tailored to individual learning styles. Technical skill is an important focus, including finger independence, rhythm, and sight-reading, but I also emphasize expressive playing and musical understanding. I help students explore dynamics, tone, and phrasing, encouraging them to make music their own. My teaching includes theory and improvisation to enhance creativity and deepen musical comprehension. Lessons are designed around the student’s interests, whether they enjoy classical compositions, jazz improvisation, or modern songs. One rewarding experience was helping a student overcome stage fright to confidently perform in their first recital, which was a highlight for both of us. I believe piano lessons should inspire curiosity and joy, and I’m committed to guiding students through every step of their musical growth.

About the lesson

In my piano studio, every lesson is built on empathy, clarity, and responsiveness. I strive to be more than just a teacher—I aim to be a musical guide and collaborator, someone who helps students uncover their strengths and face their challenges with confidence. Compassion is the cornerstone of my teaching. I listen first, asking students about their interests, their frustrations, and their goals.

Whether they’re preparing for a recital, wanting to jam with friends, or just learning to play for personal enjoyment, I take their aspirations seriously. I teach with integrity, making sure students receive clear explanations and consistent support. We work through the essentials—note reading, technique, rhythm, and expression—but we also take time to explore what excites them. Maybe that’s improvising, arranging a song they love, or understanding how a chord progression works. I adapt every lesson in real time, knowing that flexibility is key.

Some days a student is ready to tackle a big challenge; other days, we revisit old favorites and reinforce confidence. I use tools like visual aids, listening exercises, backing tracks, and improvisation games to make concepts stick. My goal is to ensure that learning the piano feels accessible, empowering, and creatively fulfilling for each and every student.
