About Reiss

I have a first class degree with honours in Mathematics and Physics. I have 8 years of experience in physics, research, data analysis and software roles where I apply my academic knowledge of my subject and my computer programming skills.

My profession is Quantum Computing Consultant, where I apply quantum computing concepts to classical optimisation algorithms, and keep abreast of industry, theoretical and experimental Quantum Computing developments. My career has also heavily involved Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning and Optimisation skills, and the coding ability to apply these skills to build models, which I am happy to teach.

Some more specific skills include: quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, stochastic modelling, simulation, molecular dynamics, unsupervised + supervised ML algorithms (theory and application), Natural Language Processing (NLP), python, applications in finance (incl. portfolio optimisation), constrained non-linear optimisation.

About the lesson

I ensure that the information taught is not just remembered and repeated but fully comprehended and applied correctly. This helps avoid simply 'plugging in' values into an equation that the student has been guided towards and not understanding the theory behind it. I do this by creating challenges requiring the student to understand the nature of the problem first, determine what it is exactly that needs finding, and what method is best for finding the solution, before performing it. It is only this way can a student effectively build on the information already taught and develop their knowledge further.

In terms of coding, it is also important to make code clean, readable and re-usable, the means to do which I will make clear.

Perfect! Reiss has really helped my daughter with a topic that she did not understand. He put in work beforehand to come up with the best explanation and they were able to fully go through the problem and discuss every step. The sessions were easy to plan and he fit around our tight schedule which was great. Thank you!
