About Yiwen

Hi everyone! I’m Yiwen, a native Mandarin speaker from Chengdu — the hometown of pandas and amazing spicy food! I’ve lived in Shanghai for four years and London for three, which gave me a deep understanding of how cultures connect and inspire one another. I love exploring different perspectives and sharing those stories through language learning. Music was actually my first teacher — listening to English songs was how I started learning English! That experience taught me that language becomes easier and more enjoyable when it’s connected to the things we love. In my classes, I bring that same spirit — combining Chinese pop culture, traditional culture, and real-life conversations to help you fall in love with Mandarin. Outside of teaching, I’m a big foodie and love cooking dishes from around the world. I believe that food, like language, is one of the best ways to understand a culture. If you’re someone who loves life, enjoys learning about new cultures, and wants to experience Chinese language in an authentic and creative way — I’d love to meet you in class!
