About Louise

I am an enthusiastic and approachable native French speaker with a genuine passion for sharing my mother tongue.

My aim is to help you feel confident and supported while learning, with lessons tailored to your needs and learning style. I have a patient and immersive approach, with lots of opportunities using real world scenarios to develop speaking, listening, writing and grammar skills.

Alongside teaching, I work in the charity sector in Bristol, and have lived in the UK for 10 years. Outside of work, I play rugby, am currently training for my second marathon, and spend my spare time attempting to teach my kitten a few tricks — with mixed success!

About the lesson

My teaching approach is entirely student-centred and goal-driven. I begin by understanding what you want to get out of our sessions — whether that is improving your speaking, strengthening your writing, preparing for an exam, travelling in France, or planning a longer-term relocation. I strongly believe that motivation is the key to successful learning, and once we are clear on your objectives, I tailor every lesson to support them.

A typical lesson combines structured learning with practical application. We will usually start by revisiting key points from previous sessions, followed by the introduction of new vocabulary or grammar in a clear and accessible way. This is then reinforced through speaking practice, real-life scenarios, or targeted exercises, depending on your goals. I place particular emphasis on pronunciation and building confidence, so you feel comfortable using French outside the lesson, not just understanding it on paper.

Having lived in the UK for ten years, I am very aware of the difficulties English speakers face when learning French, and I actively adapt my explanations to address these challenges. My method avoids rigid, one-size-fits-all courses and instead focuses on relevant, engaging content that reflects how French is actually spoken and used.

Whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for exams, or looking to improve your conversational skills, my lessons are structured, supportive, and flexible, ensuring steady progress at your own pace in a positive and encouraging environment.

I offer a first lesson of 45 minutes for free to get to know each other and what you are looking to achieve from these classes. You will get a taste of my teaching approach.

From there you can either book hourly lessons, or 5 and 10 hour packages with discounted prices.
