About the lesson

As a tutor, I approach my classes with a student-centred approach, tailoring my techniques and teaching methodology to meet the unique needs and learning styles of each individual student. I believe in creating a positive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring concepts, and actively participating in their own learning process. My techniques and teaching methodology include a combination of lecture-style teaching, interactive discussions, visual aids, real-life examples, and practical applications. I strive to make complex concepts accessible and relatable to students by breaking them down into smaller, manageable parts and using analogies to help with understanding. The typical length of a lesson depends on the level and age of the students but typically ranges from 30 - 45 minutes. I understand that attention spans may vary, so I strive to keep my lessons engaging and dynamic, incorporating different teaching strategies to maintain student interest throughout the lesson. As a tutor, I hold an HNC in Music. I also have 7 years of experience in tutoring, I have worked professionally in the music business for the past 10 years, touring/performing in every corner of the UK. providing me with a deep understanding of the subject matter and effective teaching strategies. I also hold a certificate for training in ‘Autism, Communication and the Senses’, delivered by Paragon Music. My lessons are suitable for students of various levels and ages, ranging from primary school to college level. I am experienced in tutoring students preparing for exams, such as standardised tests or entrance exams, as well as those seeking to improve their understanding and performance in a specific subject area. I also cover SQA-approved material in my lessons. In addition to my qualifications and experience, I am committed to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to reach their full potential. I am patient, approachable, and adapt my teaching style to meet the individual needs of my students, helping them build confidence, improve their skills, and achieve academic success.

Lewis was recommended to me by the owner of a local music studio. He is an amazing tutor who is helping my 14 year old son to pursue his love of playing electric guitar. They clearly share a passion! New techniques and advice are given at each lesson to keep my son engaged. and he is now able to play music that he never thought possible. Lewis has a lovely, easy going manner and always gives me a verbal progress report at the end of each lesson. My son loves his lessons with Lewis so that’s good enough for me!! I would thoroughly recommend Lewis as a guitar tutor.
