About Tara

As a dedicated and experienced math teacher, my primary goal is to ensure that each student not only improves their math skills but also gains the confidence needed to excel in the subject. I understand that math can be intimidating for many students, but with the right guidance and consistent practice, all students can feel confident and successful. I take a personalized approach to every lesson. With a Bachelor's in Mathematics and Master's of Teaching Secondary Mathematics from Loyola University of Maryland, I have a strong academic foundation and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Over the years, I’ve successfully taught and tutored a wide range of students, from middle school learners building their foundational knowledge to high school students preparing for exams and tackling more advanced topics.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I believe in creating a supportive and adaptive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I focus on a discover first, define later approach that allows students to build a solid understanding of core concepts and then apply them to various problems to reinforce learning.

Typical Lesson Plan:

A typical lesson plan starts with a brief review of the previous lesson to ensure retention, followed by a student led exploration of new material. I provide a detailed explanation of the concept with examples and guide the student through practice problems.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:

What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to adjust to each student’s unique learning style and pace. Additionally, I integrate technology and online tools to make learning more engaging, such as interactive problem solvers, math games, or virtual whiteboards when tutoring remotely.

I tutor students at various levels, including:

High School Students: I help with subjects ranging from Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II as well as Geometry.

Customized Sessions: Whether the student is struggling with foundational concepts or seeking advanced problem-solving techniques, I can adjust my approach to meet their needs.
My goal is to make sure that all students, regardless of their level, gain both the skills and confidence they need to succeed in math.
