About Akash

Hi, I’m Akash. I work in Management Consulting for a leading firm and offer Maths tuition for all levels. I have been tutoring for 5 years, and I hold a first-class Maths BSc. My ambition in tutoring is to support students who may have been let down by the academic system or who struggle in a classroom environment, providing 1-to-1 guidance and structured support. I have always taught online, starting during university, and over the years I’ve refined my approach to make it seamless and effective for every student. My main goal is to help students improve by at least two grades. I like to work with students as early as possible so I can really develop their mathematical skills, though I also specialise in intensive crash courses for students aiming to achieve a specific grade for university. Over the last three years, I’ve also helped students with UKCAT preparation, IB Maths, and entry-level grammar school exams. The moments when students achieve their goals, whether passing an exam, reaching their target grade, or gaining entry to their school or university of choice, is what keeps me motivated. Their success is truly why I love what I do.

About the lesson

In our first lesson, I introduce a topic from the syllabus with carefully structured questions of increasing difficulty. This helps me identify whether challenges come from understanding content, applying knowledge, or interpreting exam questions. Afterwards, students receive an exam booklet I have prepared to help me gauge their working grade and highlight strengths and weaknesses. In a typical lesson, I prepare a structured topic but also allow flexibility, students may request a focus area if shared two days in advance. Each session begins with an optional 10 minutes for homework questions or general queries. We then cover key content, tips, and exam strategies before working through practice questions and finishing with exam-style problems. My approach ensures steady improvement across the full syllabus. How do I teach online? I use an iPad and Apple Pencil on an interactive whiteboard, supported by MS Teams or Google Calls. Homework is set and tracked via Google Drive, making lessons identical to face-to-face. How do I track progress? I use an Excel tracker to record progress, highlight weak areas, and track grades over time. This provides both students and parents with clear evidence of improvement. My speciality is exam preparation, helping students boost their grades through structured support and consistent practice. With the right attitude, I believe any student can achieve significant improvement, often by two or more grades.
