About Sofya

I am a patient, organised, and supportive tutor who aims to make learning feel clearer and more manageable for students. I understand that many students struggle not because they are incapable, but because they need topics explained in a way that makes sense to them.

I tutor Maths, English, Combined Sciences, Computer Science, and History, and I enjoy helping students build both subject knowledge and confidence. I work well with students who feel overwhelmed, lack confidence, or need help turning their understanding into stronger written or exam responses.

My goal is to create a calm learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving step by step. I want students to leave lessons feeling more capable, more prepared, and less anxious about their schoolwork.

About the lesson

I teach Maths in a clear, structured and supportive way, helping students build both confidence and understanding. My lessons are designed around the individual student: what they are currently studying, where they feel stuck, and what they need to improve.

Sessions usually begin by identifying gaps in knowledge, misconceptions, or areas where the student lacks confidence. From there, I break topics down into manageable steps, model methods clearly, and then guide students through practice questions until they feel more independent. For GCSE students, I place a strong focus on exam-style questions, problem-solving, timing, and understanding what each question is really asking.

Lessons are typically 1 hour, although longer sessions can be arranged where appropriate. I tutor students from primary age up to GCSE level, including KS2, KS3, GCSE Maths, and entrance exam preparation.

I have several years of tutoring experience with students aged 6–16, as well as experience working in a secondary school environment. I have supported students with a wide range of needs, from building core numeracy skills to improving exam technique and confidence. I also have experience working with SEN students and adapt my explanations, pace, and lesson structure to suit the learner.

My aim is to make Maths feel less overwhelming and more approachable, while helping students develop the skills and independence they need to succeed.
