About Samantha

I’m Sam, a UK-qualified maths teacher with QTS and over 16 years of experience teaching in primary and secondary schools. I’m known for being calm, patient, and encouraging, and I really enjoy helping students who feel unsure or lacking confidence in maths.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing the moment when something finally clicks for a student and their confidence begins to grow. I believe that everyone can make progress in maths with the right support, clear explanations, and a positive learning environment.

Alongside classroom teaching, I’ve tutored students 1-to-1 for over 8 years, both online, including international learners, and face to face. I’ve also held senior leadership roles, including Assistant Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead, which has given me extensive experience supporting a wide range of learners. I’m professional, reliable, and committed to helping every student feel supported and capable.

About the lesson

My lessons are clear, structured, and supportive, with a strong focus on building confidence and secure mathematical foundations. I am a UK-qualified teacher with QTS, and I teach maths from primary level through to GCSE, including GCSE resits.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are carefully tailored to each learner’s pace, needs, and goals. I use a step-by-step, mastery-based approach, combining visual explanations, worked examples, guided practice, and problem-solving so students feel confident working independently.

I teach the UK National Curriculum and am familiar with all GCSE exam boards, particularly AQA and Edexcel. Whether a student needs catch-up support, exam preparation, or help rebuilding confidence, my aim is to make maths feel manageable, positive, and achievable.

Lessons are well-structured and provide clear progress to parents as well as students.

As a parent, I came to know Samantha through her maths tutoring on Superprof. She is a calm, patient, and highly reliable tutor who quickly built my child's confidence in maths.
Samantha explains concepts clearly and takes the time to make sure they are fully understood, rather than rushing through the material. My child felt comfortable asking questions and became much more positive about maths as a result. I would happily recommend Samantha to other parents looking for a trustworthy and effective maths tutor who genuinely cares about her students progress.

I have known Samantha for many years and find her to be a very kind and supportive person. Samantha has been providing international 1-2-1 tuition to both my daughters (now aged 8 and 13) and I have always been very impressed with her knowledge of the required curriculum and the patient and nurturing way in which she teaches. This always results in a positive attitude with both of my girls, and encourages them to continue learning. I would definitely recommend Samantha to any parent looking for additional support for their child.
