About Ivy

Hi! I’m a passionate and experienced tutor with over 3 years of experience teaching Mathematics and IELTS, as well as experience teaching Chinese to children.

With a strong academic background in Mathematics, I have developed a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and strong problem-solving skills. I am particularly confident in breaking down challenging topics into clear, manageable steps, helping students understand not only how to solve a problem, but also why the method works.

Over the years, I have worked with students of different ages and abilities, and I understand that every student has their own learning style and goals. I am patient, approachable and willing to adapt my lessons according to each student’s needs, whether they want to strengthen their foundations, improve their problem-solving skills, prepare for exams, or achieve higher results.

I am also fluent in both English and Chinese, which allows me to explain difficult concepts clearly and naturally in either language. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence.

My goal is to help students achieve strong academic results while developing a genuine understanding of the subject and becoming more confident, independent learners.

About the lesson

I am a university Mathematics student with over 3 years of tutoring experience in Mathematics and IELTS, as well as experience teaching Chinese to children. As a fluent English and Chinese speaker, I am able to explain concepts clearly in both languages and adapt my teaching style to each student’s needs.

My teaching approach focuses on building a strong understanding of the fundamentals rather than simply memorizing formulas or answers. I usually begin by identifying the student’s strengths and areas for improvement, then develop lessons around their individual learning goals. For Mathematics, I focus on explaining difficult concepts step by step, practicing different types of questions, and developing problem-solving skills. For IELTS, I can help students improve their English skills, understand question types, and develop effective strategies for achieving their target score.

I also believe that students learn best in a supportive and encouraging environment. I aim to make lessons interactive and engaging while giving students plenty of opportunities to ask questions and practice independently.

Lessons are typically 1 hour to 1.5 hours long, although longer sessions can be arranged depending on the student’s age, level and learning goals. I am happy to work with primary and secondary school students, as well as students preparing for IELTS.
