About Kara
I am an experienced educator who enjoys helping students gain confidence and clarity in mathematics. I have spent several years teaching and supporting students through homeschooling and individualized instruction, which has given me a strong understanding of how students learn at different paces. I believe that every student can succeed in math when concepts are explained clearly and broken down into manageable steps.
In my work with students, I focus on patience, encouragement, and building strong foundational skills. I take the time to understand where each student is struggling so that we can address those gaps together. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them feel more confident and capable when approaching new math problems.

My lessons focus on helping students truly understand math. I specialize in working with elementary and middle school students who need to strengthen foundational skills such as multiplication, fractions, decimals, ratios, and early algebra. Many students struggle because they missed key concepts earlier, so my approach begins by identifying gaps in understanding and rebuilding those skills step by step.
During a typical lesson, we review homework or current class topics, work through example problems together, and then practice similar problems so the student can apply the concept independently. I encourage students to explain their thinking out loud, which helps reinforce understanding and build confidence. My teaching style is patient and supportive, and I adapt explanations to each student’s learning style so that concepts become clear rather than overwhelming.
My lessons are especially helpful for students who feel behind or frustrated with math. Through one-on-one instruction and clear explanations, I help students move from confusion to confidence as they develop stronger mathematical foundations.
