About Kate
I work by the moto that art makes people powerful. As an experienced Head of Art and a UCL IOE Arts Education Culture and Practice MA graduate, I provide tailored tutoring for students looking to excel in their GSCE, A-Level, and art school applications. I also believe that everyone can benefit from pursuing their own artistic practice, working with adults and art eductors to develop their own contemporary art practicew, no matter their background.
I did my Art Foundation at Kingston University, Ba Hons in Fine Art Painting at Brighton Univeracity and recently completed an MA in Art education, culture and practice at UCL, researching to role art education as a source of care for our selves and others.
With years of teaching experience and deep insight into art education, I am passionate about guiding students through every stage of their artistic journey, from idea development to project realisation. I am a Pearson moderator and Igcse examiner, so understand how to achieve in key assessments. I have also worked with exam boards to improve their provision and resources. I and am able to support students in not only excelling in their assessment but also gaining a personal and meaningful experience from their studies.

What I Offer:
Personalised Instruction: Every student has unique strengths and creative potential. My sessions are designed to cater to individual needs, helping students develop their ideas, experiment with new techniques, and refine their artistic style. So whether you are a young person looking to explore your artistic potential, a student in need of guidance with your coursework or exam projects, or an adult looking to refine your skills and develop an artistic practice, I can use my expertise to devise a scheme of work specifically for you. I provide lessons at your home, online, or from my studio.
Comprehensive Course Support: I will guide you step-by-step through coursework and exam projects, ensuring that you meet all assessment criteria. My expertise is grounded in guiding gcse and A level students through their studies to not only exceed in assessment and grading, but also to complete their study having made a personal and meaningful body of work that builds self confidence and develops broad transferable creative skills. My pedagogocial practice includes drawing, painting, mixed media, digital art and sculpture, ensuring a broad base for experimentation and learning about all that classical and contemporary art practice can offer.
Exam Readiness: From GSCE to A-Level, I’ll support you in preparing for exams with confidence. We’ll focus on key areas such as recording, idea development, and critical analysis to ensure that your work meets the highest standards.
Portfolio Preparation: Whether you're applying to art foundation or preparing a portfolio for university, I will assist in curating and presenting your work to highlight your creative abilities. I offer feedback on presentation, content, and narrative, ensuring your personal statement, online presence and portfolio makes a lasting impression.
My Approach:
My teaching methodology is rooted in fostering creative exploration and encouraging independent and crticial thinking. I believe in empowering students to experiment and take risks while providing the structured support they need to succeed. Together, we'll work on refining your technical skills, expanding your conceptual thinking, and mastering the presentation of your ideas.
