About Catherine
I am an experienced English teacher, examiner and tutor with over ten years of experience teaching students from Key Stage 3 through to A Level. I was honored to receive a Students' Choice Teacher Award, something I value greatly because it reflects the positive relationships I build with my students.
I am passionate about English because it helps students develop confidence, critical thinking and strong communication skills. My favorite part of teaching is helping students realize they are capable of more than they thought possible, whether that means improving a grade, mastering essay writing or developing a genuine enjoyment of the subject.
Alongside my classroom teaching, I work as a GCSE and A Level examiner, giving me valuable insight into what examiners are looking for and how students can maximize their marks. I aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging and challenging, helping every student make meaningful progress and achieve their goals.

My lessons are tailored to each student's needs, whether they are aiming to improve confidence, secure a pass grade, or achieve top marks at GCSE or A Level. I begin by identifying strengths and areas for development, then create a personalised plan to help students reach their goals.
As a practising English teacher with over ten years' experience and an examiner for both GCSE and A Level qualifications, I combine subject expertise with insider knowledge of exam requirements. Lessons typically include clear explanations, model answers, guided practice and detailed feedback, helping students make rapid and measurable progress.
Most lessons are 60 minutes long. I teach Key Stage 3, GCSE, IGCSE and A Level English Language and Literature, supporting students of all abilities, from those needing extra support to those aiming for the highest grades.
