About Elena-Cristina

I am a freelance musician based in Southampton. I worked as a flute and piano teacher in private music schools in Romania, and since I came to the UK, I have been teaching privately. I have been teaching both children and adults for 6 years, and I have been preparing my students for various competitions, including the ABRSM or Trinity grades. I began my musical studies at the age of 11, at the Hariclea Darclee High school of Arts from Braila, where I have studied the flute as my main instrument and the piano as my secondary. After I graduated I entered the National University of Music Bucharest, from which I have obtained a Bachelors degree in Flute Performance. I participated in flute masterclasses and workshops in Romania, and I performed on some important stages in Bucharest, Braila, Southampton and London as a soloist, as a member of an orchestra and with a band in which I played the flute and keyboard. I finished my Master's degree in Flute Performance with Distinction at the University of Southampton, and I collaborate with various musicians for different projects (chamber music recitals, weddings, masterclasses).

About the lesson

My teaching philosophy revolves around the interaction between the teacher and the student, because I learnt from my own experience that if the pupils are happy with their teachers and their method, they will evolve faster and the process of learning and practising will be transformed into a delightful activity that can later become their profession. Every student is different and unique, so my main goal is to discover their personality and pace of learning, before I can choose their repertoire. My aim is to have my lessons relaxed and effortless, so that the pupils have an enjoyable and inspiring experience. I also like to challenge them with questions that can lead them to discover the answers by themselves.

I recommend Elena-Cristina as a brilliant Flute and Piano teacher she has taught my son for the last 3 years where he has achieved grade 5 & 6 in Flute and grade 2,3,4 in piano. He has his grade 7 Flute exam in July which I have great confidence he will pass through Elena-Cristina great teaching. Elena Cristina is my daughter's flute teacher. She is very kind, professional and passionate. My daughter is always happy to have lesson with her and is making huge progress since she started. We really enjoyed the concert Elena organised for Christmas with all her students. It was a great opportunity for my daughter to see other musicians of her age and older enjoying playing an instrument. With these initiatives Elena incentives her students to do their best and to experience the beauty of music in a wider environment. She is always available to try to rearrange lessons if there is some impediments.
