About Sophia

I am an experienced English teacher with a bachelor's degree and over five years of teaching experience.

Over the years, I have worked with learners across different age groups and academic levels, including Primary, Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary students. I have also taught in a British curriculum and IGCSE certified school, giving me experience working within structured international academic standards.

In addition to classroom teaching, I have experience in ESL and English Language Arts tutoring, also TEFL certified. This has helped me develop a flexible teaching approach that allows me to work with learners with different abilities, learning styles and educational backgrounds.

I am patient, approachable and committed to helping students understand what they are learning rather than simply memorizing answers. I believe every learner can improve with the right guidance, practice and encouragement.

My online lessons are structured, interactive and focused on helping each student make measurable progress.
My teaching approach is student-centered, interactive and tailored to each learner's level and learning goals.

I begin by identifying the student's current strengths and areas that need improvement. I then structure lessons around those needs rather than using the same approach for every learner.

My lessons combine clear explanations, guided practice, questions and discussions, reading activities, writing exercises, comprehension tasks and practical examples. For younger learners, I use age-appropriate activities and engaging exercises to make learning easier and more enjoyable.

For secondary school students, I place greater emphasis on grammar, comprehension, essay writing, vocabulary, critical thinking and examination skills where necessary.

I encourage students to participate actively during lessons, ask questions and practice what they have learned. I also provide constructive feedback so that learners can understand their mistakes and improve progressively.

My goal is not simply to help students complete their schoolwork, but to help them understand English, communicate confidently and develop skills they can use independently.

About the lesson

I offer engaging and personalized English lessons for Primary, JSS and SS students, with lessons designed around each learner's individual needs and academic goals.

My lessons cover English Language, grammar, reading, writing, comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, phonics, speaking and English Language Arts. I also support learners who need help improving their confidence and overall communication skills.

With experience teaching in a British curriculum and IGCSE certified school, I am familiar with structured international learning standards as well as the needs of students following Nigerian and international curricula.

Lessons are conducted online and are suitable for learners who need academic support, improvement in specific areas, preparation for assessments, or simply want to become more confident in English.
