About Jayalakshmi

Hi, I’m Jayalakshmi Aravind – a passionate and creative tutor with a background in Interior Design, Graphic Design, and teaching English. With a degree in Interior Design from Kingston University and experience as both a graphic designer and English tutor in France and India, I have developed a unique approach to teaching that combines creativity with practical, real-world skills. My goal is to empower students of all ages to develop their skills, whether in mastering the English language or refining their design work. I believe in making learning engaging, interactive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs, helping them build confidence and achieve their personal and professional goals.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred around adaptability, creativity, and clear communication. I aim to create a personalised learning experience for each student, ensuring that my lessons are tailored to their individual needs, learning style, and goals. Whether teaching English language skills or providing design advice, I believe that learning should be engaging, enjoyable, and relevant to real-life scenarios. For English tutoring, I focus on building a solid foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation while incorporating interactive methods such as games, role-plays, and practical activities like crafts to reinforce language skills. For design tutoring, I emphasise a hands-on approach, guiding students through the principles of graphic design, branding, or portfolio development, using real-world examples and design software like Adobe Creative Suite. I also provide detailed feedback and actionable tips to help students improve their work and develop their unique style. Each lesson typically lasts around 60-90 minutes, giving students ample time to absorb new concepts, practice, and ask questions. I find that this duration keeps the class focused and productive without overwhelming the student. However, I’m flexible and can adjust lesson lengths according to the student’s preferences or requirements. With a degree in Interior Design from Kingston University and professional experience as a graphic designer and English tutor in both France and India, I bring a broad range of knowledge and experience to my tutoring sessions. I’ve worked with students of various ages and skill levels, from children learning English as a second language to professionals seeking to improve their design skills. I offer lessons to students of all ages—from young learners to adults—whether they are beginners, intermediate, or advanced. My lessons are designed to empower students to build confidence and gain mastery over the subject matter. My goal is not only to teach the material but also to inspire students to appreciate the process of learning and create work they can be proud of. I believe in providing a supportive environment that fosters creativity, curiosity, and growth, and I’m always ready to adjust my approach to ensure the student’s success.
