About Katheryn

Hello! I’m an experienced EAL/ESL teacher with a degree in English Teaching and professional experience in private language institutes and mainstream school settings within EFL (English as a Foreign Language) contexts. I have also completed specialised English studies in Australia to further strengthen my teaching skills and deepen my understanding of English in real-world environments.

I specialise in helping non-native speakers improve their English through personalised one-to-one and group lessons tailored to their individual goals. Whether you want to build confidence in speaking, strengthen grammar, prepare for exams, or develop advanced fluency for work, study, or everyday life, I adapt each lesson to your needs.

I have worked with learners from 10 to 70 years old across different proficiency levels, creating supportive, learner-centred environments that help students progress with confidence and achieve meaningful results.

Techniques and Teaching Methodology:
I believe in a student-centered approach where the learning experience is tailored to the individual's needs and goals. My methodology combines interactive discussions, practical exercises, and real-life applications to reinforce language skills. I integrate multimedia resources, such as videos, audio clips, and online platforms, to enhance engagement and comprehension. Emphasis is placed on fostering a supportive environment where students feel confident to practice and improve their English language proficiency.

Typical Length of a Lesson:
Each lesson typically lasts 90 minutes, allowing sufficient time for focused instruction, interactive activities, and constructive feedback. I structure sessions to maximize learning efficiency while maintaining a dynamic pace that keeps students engaged throughout the session.

Qualifications / Experience as a Tutor:
I am a certified TEFL English teacher with over 2 years of experience working as a private tutor, as well as professional experience teaching in private language institutes and mainstream school settings within EFL (English as a Foreign Language) environments. I have worked with learners of different ages and proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced students, helping them improve their English for exam preparation, academic goals, professional development, and everyday communication.

Based on our first class, you are at an Upper-Intermediate (B2) English level. You communicate clearly, and your pronunciation and comprehension are excellent, which helps the conversation flow smoothly.

There are a few areas to work on. Sometimes you use articles in situations where they are not necessary, and you occasionally choose incorrect vocabulary — for example, using “growing” when talking about having a pet. These are typical B2-level issues, and with regular correction and practice, you will become more aware of these patterns and improve your accuracy.

You also mentioned that you plan to take the PTE in about two months. With focused practice, especially in grammar and vocabulary precision, you will be able to strengthen the areas needed for the exam.

Overall, you have a solid foundation, and with consistent practice, you will continue to refine your skills.
