About Jhann

I am an experienced English teacher and ESL tutor with more than 15 years of teaching experience, including over a decade of teaching online. As a native English speaker from San Diego, California, I have worked with students from many different countries, cultures, and language backgrounds, helping them build confidence, fluency, and stronger communication skills in English.

Over the years, I have taught in language schools, online platforms, private lessons, group classes, academic support settings, and communication coaching environments. My experience includes working with pre-teens, teenagers, university students, and adults in areas such as general English, conversation, academic English, business English, pronunciation, reading, writing, fluency development, and exam preparation.

I am TEFL certified and have supported learners with a wide range of goals, whether they are improving English for school, work, travel, relocation, exams, or personal development. In addition to teaching, I also bring experience from mentoring, youth development, leadership, and other professional environments, which helps me offer students a practical, well-rounded, and supportive perspective.

I take pride in creating a learning experience that is professional, encouraging, and tailored to the individual. My goal is not only to help students improve their English, but also to help them feel more confident, capable, and comfortable using it in real life.

About the lesson

My lessons are thoughtfully structured, flexible, and carefully tailored to each student’s goals. At the beginning, I take time to understand the learner’s level, strengths, challenges, and objectives so that each lesson feels purposeful, relevant, and well suited to their needs. Some students want to develop greater fluency and confidence in conversation, while others are focused on grammar, pronunciation, writing, academic English, business English, or exam preparation.

A typical lesson lasts 50 to 60 minutes and is designed to be both engaging and productive. I usually begin with a short review or warm-up, then move into a clear lesson focus. Depending on the student’s goals, lessons may include guided speaking practice, pronunciation and accent support, vocabulary development, grammar clarification, reading and writing activities, discussion, roleplay, or exam-based tasks. I always provide clear, constructive feedback so students understand how to improve while feeling supported throughout the process.

My teaching style is interactive, student-centred, and flexible. I do not believe in one standard method for every learner. Instead, I adapt each lesson to the student’s pace, personality, and goals, while maintaining a high standard of structure and focus. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and actively using English in a way that builds both confidence and accuracy.

My lessons are ideal for pre-teens, teenagers, university students, and adults. I work especially well with learners who want to improve their English for school, work, travel, relocation, interviews, presentations, exams, or everyday communication. I aim to create a learning experience that is professional, encouraging, and clearly connected to meaningful progress.

With more than 15 years of teaching experience, including over a decade of online teaching, I know how to create lessons that are engaging, adaptable, and results-oriented, while still making students feel at ease.
