About James
I have spent nearly 10 years in formal classrooms teaching elementary to middle school students.
I am also a rock climbing guide, and have ascended some of the biggest walls in the world like Yosemite's El Capitan. I like to weave adventure into learning when I can.
I enjoy other hobbies like painting and learning to play new instruments. My latest, most difficult one to tackle to date is the accordion.

I'm a big fan of real world math and using manipulatives, even if it is over a zoom or video call. Students are encouraged to work with their hands (and sometimes feet) as much as their brains.
If a student has interests such as music or sports, that will be incorporated into their personal lessons. I play several instruments, a lot of sports and do a Weird Al Yankovic cover band in my spare time.
Lessons are for students from 5-14 years old, and I can teach a variety of subjects, but my main focus in the classroom was as a math teacher.
