About Allyson

Hi, I’m Allyson, a passionate and experienced ELA, math and science educator with a deep commitment to helping students succeed. With over a decade in education, including roles as a classroom teacher and school leader, I’ve seen firsthand how impactful personalized support can be in building confidence and understanding.

My tutoring sessions are tailored to each student’s unique needs and learning style, focusing on clear explanations, practical examples, and lots of practice. I work with middle and high school students, covering topics from basic algebra to AP English Literature. Whether a student wants to boost their grades, prepare for an upcoming test, or gain confidence in a new subject, I’m here to make the journey rewarding and enjoyable.

I guide students through problems step-by-step, encouraging them to articulate their thought processes. For complex topics, I break them down into manageable parts and reinforce learning through visual aids, hands-on activities, and frequent practice.

Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material to check understanding and reinforce key concepts. I introduce new material in clear, incremental steps, followed by examples we work through together. I leave time for independent practice and questions, making adjustments based on the student’s level of comfort and progress. Each lesson ends with a recap of what was learned and a brief preview of what’s next.
