About Omolola

I am an experienced Chemistry and STEM tutor with a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Ahmadu Bello University. I have been teaching since 2016 and have worked professionally as a private tutor since 2019.

Over the years, I have taught Chemistry to students at different levels and across Nigerian, British, Cambridge, and American curricula. My experience includes helping secondary school students build strong foundations, preparing students for WAEC, NECO, IGCSE, and A Level examinations, and supporting university students with more advanced Chemistry, including Advanced Organic Chemistry.

What I enjoy most about teaching Chemistry is helping students move from seeing it as a collection of complicated formulas, reactions, and facts to recognizing the logic and patterns that connect the subject. I am patient, approachable, and genuinely interested in helping students understand rather than simply memorize.

I believe that struggling with Chemistry does not mean a student is incapable of learning it. Sometimes, they simply need the subject explained in a way that connects with how they think. I take the time to understand each student's starting point and adapt my teaching accordingly.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching Chemistry is centered on understanding rather than memorising facts, formulas, and reactions. I want students to understand what is happening at the molecular level and why, so that they can apply their knowledge to unfamiliar questions rather than relying only on memorised steps.

I break complex topics into simple, connected ideas and use analogies, everyday examples, visual explanations, and guided questions to make difficult concepts easier to grasp. For topics involving calculations, I focus on understanding the principles behind the equations before applying them to problems. For areas such as Organic Chemistry, I help students understand patterns, structures, reactions, and mechanisms so that the subject becomes more logical and less overwhelming.

My lessons are interactive. Rather than simply explaining a topic and moving on, I ask questions, work through examples with the student, identify gaps in understanding, and gradually encourage the student to solve problems independently. I also adapt my explanations and pace to the student's level, learning style, and specific areas of difficulty.

A typical lesson is 60 minutes and may include concept explanation, guided examples, problem-solving, and a review of the student's understanding.

My lessons are suitable for secondary school students, examination candidates, and university foundation-level students who want to strengthen their Chemistry, improve their grades, or develop a deeper and more confident understanding of the subject.
