About Dom
Hey, I'm Dom - a 28 year old from the UK with a fascination in biological and biomedical science. Sharing my passion with other people has motivated me since I was at school.
I have recently returned from 10 months travelling in South America and I loved to tell people about my old job working in drug safety target evaluation because they could see just how passionate I am about this essential element of our modern world.
My passion has also helped me on a personal level as I survived a stroke in 2014 when aged 18. My interest in medicine and genetics kept my head above the water and engaged me with my recovery, as I understood the reason that things were the way they were following my illness. I bring personality to my tutoring as I think things are much easier to understand when we can relate them to the real world outside of a textbook.

The goal of my lessons can be sumarised in one word: communication. I think this is the most important aspect of tutoring, and I pride myself in being able to communicate concepts clearly and cogently to a wide variety of levels. I have over 4 years of experience tutoring students from ages 12-18, as well as having delivered presentations on immunology and cancer toxicology within the company that I worked at for 3.5 years. Ordinarily, my sessions will be an hour in length, although longer can be arranged.
I think tutoring should revolve around outlining knowledge to the student and testing that understanding in some form before the end of the session to ensure that I'm confident of their understanding.
