About Noor

I have been obsessively drawing and painting for as long as I can remember, since I was a child and for most of my life! I studied Art for both GCSE (A*) and A Level (A) then studied BSc Architecture at the University of Reading (2:1). I also have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Cambridge. My main area of expertise is with portrait drawings and landscape paintings, but I love experimenting and challenging myself with different mediums and subjects. I show some of my recent experimentation on Instagram and most social medias as @noormayrazooki for anyone interested in seeing some of my work. I have been providing drawing Tuition for the last 3+ years and I work as an Art Teacher full time. I also offer commissions and freelance artwork / design services for companies and private clients. As I have been involved in teaching / mentoring roles and positions (both in official roles and for volunteering) since my adolescent years, I have lots of experience with breaking down complex topics into less intimidating and more fun bite-sized chunks of content. As humans, we are all visual creatures. So naturally, Art serves an important purpose in our societies by spreading joy, truth and adding interest to our lives. Not to mention, the inherently meditative nature of drawing and painting in itself makes it a very relaxing, engaging and fulfilling skill to cultivate if you have the will and patience to pursue it. I don't believe that any of us are (or need to be) "gifted" to be artists, we just need to be curious and find ways to enjoy the process so that we want to practice a lot. I want students to enjoy learning, and my lessons are a reflection of that. I always look for creative ways to make the lessons fun and interactive so students stay engaged and learn as much as possible.

About the lesson

I am very friendly, patient, and directive. I encourage my students to push themselves and I help them to do this at their own pace, perceptively tailoring my approach to work with the personality of the individual. I have tutored a number of students of various ages online and in person, from complete beginners to being quite skilled already, but just needing that extra push / guidance either personally or with their studies. I usually like to conduct lessons over Zoom as it allows for the whiteboard, annotate and share screen functionality which enables us to visually communicate what we are describing. I also like to set up a second screen for the meeting and draw / paint along with my student so that I can demonstrate what I am describing for them and create more of a fun, interactive learning experience. A few key benefits of learning to draw: - Therapeutic / meditative way to relax and unwind - Valued skill that has been sought after and admired throughout history - We save money on décor by making our own! - Contribute our creative voice to culture and future history - Earn extra by teaching upon gaining skill and experience I welcome students to contact me between lessons if you need to ask any questions or to send an update of progress (free of charge); I believe this is the best way to ensure you continue to develop and feel supported outside of lesson time. I can also be available at random times or at fixed, regular times / dates depending on your goals, availability and circumstances, so feel free to book lessons with as much or as little notice as you like. Marcelo is very focused and dedicated, sometimes even proactively pushing further ahead and surpassing the pace of the lesson meaning we need to adapt our approach to match his impressive learning pace! Marcelo is also very friendly, easy to get along with and speak to, and flexible with organising lessons which is much appreciated. He is not afraid to set a challenging goal and work patiently towards it over time, and I am looking forward to seeing his drawing skills progress even further as we work towards his goals! :)

Olya has a very keen eye for detail, and she is a very fast learner. She can sometimes get distracted but she quickly gets back to the task at hand. There could be some room for improvement in terms of her ability to accurately perceive overall proportions of things, as well as working on her confidence so that she doesn't focus too much on how the drawing looks during the process and erasing too much as no drawing looks beautiful at every stage of the process! However, this can take time to improve on and she is already making very fast progress since her first lesson! I'm looking forward to continue helping her develop her skill and technique. Overall, she is a star and should be very proud of herself!
