About Erick
With over 4 years of experience, I have encountered all kinds of students at different points in their journeys through math classes. In that time, I've come to understand that different students have different goals when it comes to meeting with a tutor. Some students just have a deadline for a homework coming up, and they just need help with a few questions on that assignment. Some students have a test coming up, and they missed a few days of class due to illness or something. They are looking for someone to teach them the concepts they missed. Some students want continual support throughout the semester because they may have had to skip a prerequisite class or just know they will need additional help outside of what their teacher/professor can give them. These are just some examples of the reasons that students have sought help from me in the past, as well as many other reasons that I don't have the room to list here. No matter the situation, in each case I take the time to understand that student's goals so I can be sure to use our time appropriately. I tune my style to meet the needs of each student.

As the title of my ad says, I have several years of experience helping high school and college students with various math classes from geometry and precalculus to multivariable calculus and statistics. My approach to teaching is to try and break the concepts down to their most fundamental ideas and explain not just HOW to do things, but the logic of WHY we do certain things to solve specific problems. If a student can make these kinds of connections, they will be much better off in the class as a whole because they will start to see the similarities between different problems and concepts. Seeing the connections between ideas is just as important as the ideas themselves.
