About David

Over 10 years experience working one-to-one with students. I have worked with a range of clients including Primary and Secondary school pupils (GCSE and A-LEVEL preparation), as well as adult learners looking to learn a second language for pleasure or for professional reasons.

I am a QTS (PGCE UK qualified) French and Spanish teacher at a secondary school in Southampton. I have a 2:1 French degree from Cardiff University in French and I have lived and worked in France and Spain. Having a French Canadian mother, I have been speaking French from an early age.

I am a keen photographer and my other interests include tennis, cycling, playing guitar and European films.

About the lesson

I believe that effective language instruction consists of motivating the individual by creating an enjoyable, varied and challenging lesson set.

I adopt a personalized and bespoke approach to tuition. Each of my lessons are designed around the requirements and level of the student. I use a range of resources to aid my tuition including course books, my own documents, pictures, online software, music and film.

My bespoke lessons cater for:

- Basic/Intermediate/advanced level (A1 to C1)
- Preparation for GCSE and A-level examinations
- General conversation
- Colloquial French
- French for business purposes

ONLINE LESSONS: My online method allows for a fully inclusive and interactive learning environment which utilise online language teaching tools and new technologies. Activity sheets, videos, recordings and lesson notes are given to each student at the end of the sessions. I also set homework for GCSE and A level students and full feedback is provided during the lessons. The lesson structure is similar to that of the face-to-face lessons with some adaptations made which better suit the online format.
