About Mel
Learning a language should feel empowering, not frustrating. In my lessons, I create a focused and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, experimenting with language and making real progress. I work closely with each learner to understand their goals, learning style and challenges, so every lesson feels purposeful and relevant.

I am a fully qualified and experienced English language teacher with a Master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and the Cambridge CELTA qualification. I also have an academic background in Business, Finance, Marketing and Management, which allows me to support professionals who need English for their careers.
I have been teaching English for 15 years. I began working in schools and later moved into private tutoring. I have specialised in academic English, including IELTS, CAE, FCE, OET and TOEFL preparation.
During this time I have helped students gain admission to universities, graduate successfully, secure visas and obtain work contracts in countries such as the UK, Canada and Australia, as well as achieve important career goals.
I also work with medical professionals from around the world who need an IELTS score of 7.0 or higher for professional registration with organisations such as the GDC, GMC, GPhC, NMC and RCVS.
My students come from many professional backgrounds, including doctors, engineers, writers, cinematographers, pilots, entrepreneurs and software developers.
My lessons are tailored to your individual needs. I identify the areas that are holding you back and provide structured guidance, clear feedback and practical strategies to help you improve quickly and confidently.
Because many students are unfamiliar with the expectations of the British education system, I also help learners develop the academic skills required for success in university and professional environments.
