About Rhys

My name is Rhys Jacob and I am currently a Science teacher with over two years of experience. I have great passion for my subject and am very enthusiastic. I am extremely eager to get started with tutoring as I believe it it fits my personality and skills extremely well.

I am still a relatively young teacher (26 years old) and a very easy-going individual. I will seek to inspire and produce effective lessons tailored to the individual and their goals.

I am fully qualified with a degree in Genetics from Cardiff university, PGCE completed at the University of Bristol and my NQT completed at my current school.

About the lesson

I am an extremely enthusiastic individual who brings a high energy teaching style to the classroom and tutoring lessons. This style reflects both my lively personality and the sincere enjoyment I experience from delivering lessons and tutoring sessions.
My key skills are my ability to adapt and tailor lessons to the individual, my questioning technique and the ability to break scientific concepts down in simple form that can be more easily understood.
I am also very practical and visual with my tutoring sessions which I find to be very effective.
My biggest skill, is my natural ability to form positive relationships quickly with my students. This allows them to feel comfortable and to enjoy the session.
I have great drive in aiming to get the absolute best out of my students and find it very rewarding seeing improvement. I am extremely encouraging and look to both motivate and inspire my students.

My tutoring sessions are delivered online over 'Zoom', where I use screen sharing combined with an interactive whiteboard that can be seen by the student.

Typical length of a lesson: 1 hour.

Qualifications: Genetics BSc (Cardiff university), PGCE (University of Bristol), NQT completed.

Lessons aimed at: 11-18 years, all abilities, KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Biology).

Perfect! Rhys was very good at keeping my son engaged (something he often struggled with!) as well as explaining complicated topics in simple terms. The use of diagrams was great, and the interactive white board was such a good way to interact. Honestly recommend Rhys to anyone looking for help with science.

He explained to Rhys that he just wanted some extra support with a few biology topics (mitosis in particular) and that was exactly what Rhys was able to offer. Benjamin has said how much more productive the session was compared to his normal school lessons. I'd definitely recommend Rhys to anyone looking for similar support.
