About Ziyad

I have been tutoring students of all different ages for around 3 years now, having worked for 2 years in a Kumon centre where I gained an immense amount of experience in teaching all levels of Mathematics and English. I also have been teaching friends, family and colleagues whenever needed, including fellow university students who have often struggled in the Mathematics modules of our course.

Having got into Tiffin School and passing the 11 plus exams in a number of other schools including Hampton Schoo, I have been teaching 11+ subjects including Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning to a number of students. I have all the knowledge required to help students in every single topic for Verbal and Non Verbal, and help them achieve the highest possible marks in the exam. I have the ability to teach in a patient and thorough manner, helping students develop their knowledge and competence in the subject.

A great example of how students have flourished under my teaching is university students vastly improving their grades after being taught by me and therefore getting a higher percentage for their degree. Also, I have taught Maths and English at lower levels where students have had to pass their SATs, 11+ exams and other important exams which again shows how rewarding tutoring is.

I am very experienced in Maths, achieving a Level 6 in SATS, completed the Kumon syllabus, completed the JMC and IMC, achieved an A* in GCSE Maths and a B in A-Level Maths (Achieved an A in the core modules). This again highlights my proficiency in the subject and I am extremely keen to pass on my knowledge.

Regarding my English qualifications, I have a Level 6 in SATS, an A* in English Language GCSE and an A in English Literature. I believe my love for reading and writing stories since a young age has vastly improved my vocabulary over time and therefore helped me to excel in the subject.

Beyond my knowledge in these subjects, I believe the key to tutoring is to actually enjoy teaching (which I definitely do!), provide an enjoyable atmosphere for the student to learn in and catering each session to suit the progress of the student. This helps you, the student, to get the most out of each session so you come away feeling as if you have made a step in the right direction every time. By testing each individual topic of the syllabus, I can help reinforce what you have learnt and give some positive feedback on where improvement is needed. Regular assessment and me providing you essential exam tips is what gets you exam-ready and prevent you getting caught out on common pitfalls such as running out of time, misreading the question or missing out on easy, “obvious marks”.

About the lesson

I have been working online since the COVID-19 pandemic started, and have all the necessary tools needed to make it an enjoyable and seamless experience which is just like being in person.

I aim to teach you in a style that helps me understand what pace we need to go at, what material we need to cover and when to periodically test your knowledge on each topic. To achieve this, in our first session I would typically identify what subjects you require to be tutored on, what curriculum you are on, what (or if not) exam board you are on and what level you are currently at. We can have a look at your strengths and weaknesses to determine what we really need to focus on first to stamp out any bad habits/mistakes. Once this is established I can prepare a plan with you so we are both comfortable with the material that each session will be covering. This will provide an organised structure to each lesson, ensuring no time is wasted.

Following on from this intro, we would then proceed with the first topic in this session, which will most definitely leave you feeling more positive and confident about the subject already! To reinforce each lesson, I will set homework on what we learnt and go through it at the start of the next session.

For further sessions, I will continue to prepare material each week to go through with you so you can understand each section thoroughly. From my experience, you can only do so much of just memorising and regurgitating information; there needs to be a clear understanding of what you are learning in order to tackle the more difficult questions in the examination.
