About Ebenezer
I am a qualified UK Secondary Mathematics Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE from the University of Greenwich. I have experience teaching Mathematics at KS3 and KS4, including helping prepare students for their GCSE examinations.
I am passionate about helping students understand Mathematics rather than simply memorizing formulas. I believe every student can make progress when they are taught in a patient, supportive and encouraging way. I take time to identify areas where a student is struggling, build their confidence and then develop their skills step by step.
Alongside my classroom teaching experience, I have many years of experience mentoring and supporting young people, which has helped me develop patience, good communication skills and an understanding of how to encourage students. I want to teach because I enjoy seeing students overcome difficulties, gain confidence and realize that Mathematics is a subject they can succeed in.
Whether your child needs help catching up, preparing for GCSE examinations, strengthening their understanding or simply becoming more confident in Mathematics, I would be delighted to support them.

The core of my teaching methodology is this: Without fail, I always start my lessons with a 10 mins warmer/starter task, at the end of which I get them to mark their work.
As soon as that is done, I start off the main lesson by modeling the concept of the task in question, then together with the class we work through a very similar example, asking individuals for input. After running through a couple of different examples I take the opportunity to address any misconceptions there may be. When I'm certain a good 80% of students have grasped the concept, I often send them off with a 10 mins independent class exercise, while I walk around the room to give further assistance to those who may need it.
After the task learners get to mark their work before we scaffold to the next task.
I always have extra questions on hand to challenge my learners and enable them to earn achievement points for the lesson.
Then the Plenary.
Lessons are usually 50 mins in duration.
