About Amy

What Sets Me Apart • I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching (Grades 1–6) and Children’s Studies, bringing both current research and classroom strategies into my tutoring. • I have hands-on experience working with children ages 6–11, both in academic and caregiving settings. • My lessons are designed to be nurturing, engaging, and fully student-centered—because learning should feel exciting, not overwhelming. • I’m also semi-fluent in Spanish, allowing me to support students from bilingual households or ESL learners. Who My Lessons Are For: • Students in Grades 1–6 • Children needing homework help, reading or math support, study skills, or enrichment • Young learners who may benefit from a gentle, encouraging approach • Bilingual or Spanish-speaking students needing extra support

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is centered around creating a positive, supportive learning environment where each child feels encouraged to explore, ask questions, and grow. I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to fit their unique learning style, pace, and needs.

Teaching Method & Techniques:
I use a mix of interactive, hands-on activities and structured practice to keep students engaged. I incorporate visual aids, games, and storytelling—especially for younger learners—to make lessons fun and meaningful. I focus on building foundational skills in reading, writing, and math, while also encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving.

I also integrate gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement to boost confidence, especially for students who may feel frustrated or behind. For bilingual learners or those learning Spanish, I can provide basic language support to help bridge any communication gaps.

Typical Lesson Plan:
• Warm-Up (5-10 minutes): A short, fun review of previous material to activate prior knowledge.
• Main Activity (30-40 minutes): Focused instruction based on the child’s current needs or schoolwork, using custom exercises, visuals, and interactive tools.
• Practice & Review (10-15 minutes): Guided practice followed by review questions or a game to reinforce learning.
• Wrap-Up (5 minutes): A brief summary of what was learned, feedback, and a preview of the next session.

Whether your child needs help catching up or wants to get ahead, I’m here to guide them every step of the way!
