About Gareth

Are you taking A level Physics? Do you want or need to do better? If your aim is the very highest grade or you just really need to pass a subject that isn't your favourite, I can help. I have taught students on their way to the most prestigious Universities, and also helped others to "survive" A Level Physics!

About me:
I am a qualified (PGCE) teacher of physics and electronics at A level with 15 years of professional practice & love teaching.
I have over a decade of A level examining experience (blimey that makes me feel old!) meaning I know what examiners are looking for & how to help you show it to them.
I have written international exams used by Universities.

Ethos: I believe in maintaining two-way communication about your learning, and tailoring my support to you using eg .ppt, interactive whiteboard, webcam, document cam, shared links to online resources, textbook questions, past papers etc. All sessions are about what is best for you after discussing your requirements. Some examples of possible tutorials:
"Help!" - single sessions to get you over a piece of the syllabus or a single piece of work you're struggling with.
"Foundations" - feel like you're missing some fundamental building blocks? we can work on core skills or foundation knowledge.
"Exam Secret Weapons" - a single session on key skills that will serve you well in any exam, from someone who's been on the 'other side'!
"Regular Maintenance" - arrange a regular session to discuss topics you've covered this week in class, go over things you've not looked at in a while, take a topic deeper, or just get in some exam style question practice - it's up to you.
We can discuss what you're hoping for & tailor our tutorials to suit.

I love to see students get better and more confident, and have never met a problem that couldn't be solved.

Finally: I offer no legally dubious(!) claims of grade guarantees, as I have learned over many years that the single most important factor in a student's final grade is their own attitude - if you want to do better & are willing to put the effort in, I can guide you to make sure it's spent in the most productive way.
