About Marcus

I'm a passionate, enthusiastic arts practitioner, and English/TEFL teacher with 13 years of experience and training. Throughout my career I've taught various subjects to individual students, as well as classes of up to 30 students.

I teach so that I may share in the rewarding sense of achievement that each of my students feels, and celebrate every win along the way - big or small!

I have 13 years of experience working alongside young people in a mentoring/coaching capacity, for various organisations, including non-profits.

My teaching experience includes having worked in a youth theatre company which delivers high quality arts education to equip individuals with self confidence, as well as acting and life skills.

I have 16 years of experience performing in theatre/Film and Television around the Gold Coast, while the local performance industry has grown immensely.

My experience and love for performance has taught me confidence and self-backing which I've been able to apply to all aspects of my life. I've benefitted and grown with the support that healthy creative spaces can offer, and endeavour to facilitate the same growth for my students.

About the lesson

Lessons with me centre around discovery learning and play-based learning principals. Each hour session will incorporate a variety of enjoyable, memorable activities designed for students to discover and consolidate their learning.

My lessons are planned around strengthening the core skills of language: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. We assess and identify the skills which are stengths, and utilise these to increase our ability in other areas.

I'm a driven and experienced educator who believes firmly in equipping my students with the confidence to achieve their personal and professional goals. I have found that a safe, caring and fun learning environment, provides the perfect platform for learners of any age to improve their capacity approach to life's challenges.

I have undergone tertiary level training over the past 12 years, studying Drama/English Education, Creative Industries/Entertainment as well as Teaching English as a Foreign Language. All of which included on-the-ground experience in their fields.

My lessons are for anyone, any age, from intermediate to fluent level. Anyone can benefit from the play-based, discovery approach to learning. Learning is hard work, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun along the way!
