About Shyron
I trained to become a Teacher in 2001. I taught all subjects of the National Curriculum. I discovered I preferred working 1:1 with students to mainstream classroom teaching, so sought alternative careers which still had an element of teaching / training, such as: supporting students with learning disabilities at college, Community Arts / Music, running workshops and groups, Occupational Therapy (running life skills groups and 1:1 sessions (eg cooking, travel training, anxiety management). I trained in KS2-3 teaching but have worked with people of all ages including: young adults with learning disabilities, 8-14 year olds, GCSE students, degree students, adults of working age, older adults. I have also worked with refugees as a Teacher of English as a Second Language. Previously having lived in London for six years, I have worked with people from many different cultures and backgrounds. I love learning and studying myself, and I think this comes across in my lessons. I have three degrees (two Master's degrees) as well as a PGCE, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed and applied in the workplace. The course I am now studying in Environmental Management & Technology has reignited both my love of learning and my love of teaching, and I have been teaching Geography (GCSE and KS3). I find teaching hugely rewarding.

My starting point is always to ask what the student is specifically wanting to get out of each session, and base lessons on that. The benefit of 1:1 teaching is that lessons are tailor-made to each student. No two lessons are the same. I prepare material beforehand and adapt it as necessary. I use text books, revision books, resources from teaching / study websites, and provide links to relevant videos or other suitable material. I am used to working with people with learning needs such as dyslexia - sometimes this can be more about organising ideas than switching letters in words over when writing, and I help with structuring work etc in these instances.
