About Ely

Hi, I'm Ely! I'm a PhD student with a lifelong love of history, thanks to my grandparents who introduced me to it when I was young. I’m passionate about sharing the weird, wacky, and profound aspects of history with my students, making every lesson memorable and engaging. Beyond teaching, I work as a freelance editor and English tutor, with extensive experience in helping people perfect their writing, spelling, and grammar. I love guiding students to express themselves clearly and effectively while discovering the captivating stories of the past.

About the lesson

I offer engaging and personalised lessons in history, art history, mythology, and other humanities for students of all ages—whether you're in school, university, or simply an adult eager to learn more. No prior experience is required; I’m here to meet you at your level. As a PhD candidate at ANU, where I’m writing my thesis on literature and art history, I bring both deep expertise and a lifelong love of history to my teaching. My passion lies in making history fascinating and enjoyable for every student. My areas of special interest include WWI, WWII, the Renaissance, the French and Russian Revolutions, Victorian and British history, and social history. I take a multidisciplinary approach, tailoring lessons to each student's unique interests, strengths, and areas for growth. Whether it’s through reading assignments, podcasts, films, documentaries, articles, or visual learning, I strive to make every lesson an immersive and rewarding experience. I offer one-hour online classes to start, with options for longer sessions available upon request.
