About Yorick
I'm currently a fusion energy PhD candidate living in Oxford, and have always been passionate about teaching and public outreach. I have been a private tutor for over 5 years now but I am new to superprof so lesson costs are lower than usual! The reason I enjoy tutoring is that I see many of my students starting to enjoy the process of solving problems. Especially when we move away from the mindset of: 'just getting the right answer', and instead focus on really understanding the underlying problems before coming up with a solution.

During tutoring, I am highly enthusiastic, patient, and I adapt my lessons to best suit the student. Every student learns in different ways and I believe that recognising this is the key to good teaching. I like to guide the student through lessons with an emphasis on self discovery and learning to break complex problems into managable chunks. That this creates real understanding of the course material, which makes the subject more enjoyable, leads to more confidence in exams and, of course, results in higher grades!
