About Nia

Hi, I'm Nia and I have recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a master's in maths. Having studied the subject at university for 5 years, I consider Maths my specialism and greatest academic strength. I have worked as a private maths tutor for the last seven years in North London and Edinburgh, and have worked with a wide range of students from primary school to A-Level. My tutees have always improved their performance, with all of them receiving at least an 8 on their final exam.

About the lesson

Everyone can be great at maths! Maths can be a challenging subject for many, but with the right guidance and support, any student can excel. As a tutor, my goal is to help you build confidence and develop a deep understanding of the subject. My tutoring is not just about getting good grades (but do not worry, you will get those also). By making the subject engaging and relevant, you will develop a love of learning and a passion for maths. I am aware of the prevalence of maths anxiety and how it can negatively impact a student's performance. I believe that a key factor in overcoming maths anxiety is building a strong foundation of understanding and confidence. By breaking down complex concepts into manageable pieces and providing ample opportunities for practice and review, I help students build the skills and confidence they need to tackle challenging problems with ease. Overall, I strive to make every tutoring session a positive and enjoyable experience, one that inspires students to pursue their mathematical goals and overcome any obstacles in their way. Whether you are struggling with basic concepts or preparing for upcoming exams, I will work with you to develop a personalised plan to meet your unique needs. Perfect! Nia has a very targeted approach to some of my specific math issues. She explains very clearly. She helped me analyse where I was making mistakes in my methodology and where I was over-thinking it on certain questions and flipping my process / methodology out of panic!

Nia is incredibly proactive and always finding ways to help with different resources for me to practice and uses targeted exam questions.

For my Further Maths GCSE she elevated my grade from a 6 up to a high 8. I am so happy!

I hope Nia will help with my A level syllabus next! Thanks again.
