About Joel

I have successfully finished coursework for three majors at DePaul University, the largest Catholic university in America that remains staffed by Vincentian priests and religious who are especially focused on a style of teaching called “personalism” or teaching a class with the differences of learning styles unique to every person in mind so no student feels confused and all professors are willing to individually meet with every student privately and their relationship to each student is prioritized over research. Vincentian religious and clergy are members of a religious order named after St. Vincent DePaul of France who is a canonized saint in the Roman Catholic Church and is the model after which professors at DePaul approach every person: with a desire and attention to ensuring all students have a personal understanding of the subject matter because all students are deserving of respect and deference to their unique manner of learning. The success of each student is considered a priority. Students are treated as individuals with names and not numbers. St. Vincent ministered to the marginalized, poor, dispossessed, and sickly Catholics as well as preaching the Faith to anybody (such as a non-practicing Catholic) who would listen. He was a minister and Saint to all people.

About the lesson

I am a scholar and academic tutor of language, visual arts, and comparative religions with primary focus on Judaism, Catholicism (Christianity), and Islam. I am an accomplished painter, art historian, potter, sculptor, calligraphic writings, and reproduction of images. I speak many languages from French to Arabic to Italian and Ecclesiastical Latin...I am dedicated to helping foreign students in the United States learn American English speaking and writing (including reading comprehension) to a fluency that prepares them to successfully pass the ESL and IELTS. I am also an art instructor and I have degrees in Comparative Literature, Theology, and Women’s & Gender Studies. I am a scholar and teacher of diverse subjects and I can teach up to the doctoral level.
