About Gemma
Hi, I’m Gemma. I am a engaging, supportive and very organised English tutor. I offer learning and teaching support to young people in secondary education and further English studies. I also have experience of working with SEN students. I have been tutoring for six successful years. I am also a writer and work as a freelancer in the TV and Film industry.
I currently teach students from private and state schools in the SW London, Surrey and surrounding areas including Tiffin Boys’ School, St James Senior Boys’ School and Reed’s School.

I view my tuition as an extension of my student's classroom learning, which is why I always make sure to check in with their progress at school, sixth form or college. I have an extensive knowledge of the English curriculum and have a wealth of teaching resources. I tailor my sessions to suit the needs and preferred approaches of my students, which I use the first introductory session to establish.
In a typical English session, I teach my students how to effectively read and analyse both fiction and non-fiction texts; evaluating language, structure, form and presentation and explaining effect on the reader. I have taught the syllabus of most exam boards however I am more familiar with the AQA exam board. Nearer exam and assessment I focus on revision, exam techniques and practice papers.
Availability: Weekdays after 3pm and weekends
