About Sobia

All teaching is customised to the learner because not everyone learns the same! We are all different and have different inclinations.

Students are not just 'taught at' but are supported to develop skills that will allow them to propel their own learning without support in the future. This includes working with ADHD or dyslexic learners, helping them develop strategies to work around their barriers.

Each session will conclude with a feedback/self evaluation form, these are sent electronically to parents. I take the time to recognise achievements however big or small as well as develop self reflective learning.

About me:

Hi, my name is Sobia Ahmed and I am a qualified teacher, DBS checked with a specialist qualification in English.

I have been in the teaching field for almost a decade and have taught English (and other subjects) at every level; from phonics to A-level English. I am also a home schooler to my two children.

My Sessions:

All first sessions involve an initial diagnostic assessment. This means I am able to pinpoint strengths and gaps and recognise the best way a student will learn. I.e. are you a visual or kinaesthetic learner? Are there any signs of dyslexia that are holding you back and how to work around them?

I use high quality teacher resources, lesson plans, print outs and computers to keep sessions engaging.

How I Teach:

Every learner is different, therefore every session is delivered to match their personal learning style. My background in SEN has given me a unique insight into adapting activities and breaking down tasks so they are easily digestible.

My teaching style is holistic, approachable and creative. All resources are high quality and mapped to the national curriculum. I teach from my own home and online.

My Experience:

I am a qualified English Teacher who has taught Key Stages 1-4, including GCSE, Functional Skills and A Level.

I have a decade of teaching experience behind me in a variety of educational settings. This includes primary, high school, college and sixth forms from outstanding Ofsted schools to a private boarding school to grammar schools.
