About Hannah Kathryn
I have taught English for 8 years in both urban and rural settings, with experience tutoring in both. Working with underachieving students (whether at a grade 1 or 6) is extremely rewarding and has been my focus for many years. I enjoy seeing students grasp complex concepts and begin to apply their knowledge to the page. This can be especially rewarding with KS3 students for whom a small improvement can be big results at GCSE and A Level.
I predominantly teach English Language and Literature at A Level, but have experience with English Literature.
I run a creative writing club that supports students in writing wholly original novels in a month.
Alongside teaching English, I also run a small department, having advanced into middle leadership at school.

My tutoring approach seeks to embed and expand on current learning to understand weaknesses and strengthen them. I believe it is important to understand the way a student’s mind approaches a task to show them how to address their challenges.
I currently teach in a high-achieving school with well above average achievement at GCSE and A Level. I specialise in teaching creative writing, non fiction and poetry, but can focus on any area of English necessary with confidence.
I also hold a Masters degree in Education Policy, so can support with essay writing for any subject to degree level.
Lessons are 60 or 90 minutes depending on need. There may also be homework set for tutees nearing exams.
