I am Mesuli. I've discovered that both my middle and high school students frequently scoff at these reflection activities, putting forth the least amount of effort possible to complete the task they see as meaningless. I've been looking for and developing lessons and activities to increase interest and engagement in this task.

Growth mindset and goal setting
I enjoy asking my students to set goals. We do this at the start of the year, the beginning of a new semester, a new unit, a new skill, and so on. This is an excellent place to naturally incorporate those reflection conversations. As that unit or semester comes to a close, we can look back on these to reflect on our learning and set new goals. What a wonderful life skill and habit to instill in our students! I use these engaging one-page goal setting activities to help my students create these goals.
I'll make a Google site that looks like Facebook. Students can post a photo of their project as well as a reflection on their process or learning experience. Through this "Fake Facebook," I can also pose reflection questions and have students respond to them. This can be just as effective on a class blog.
