About Ruby

I am an MA English Student at King's College London who has recently graduated with a high 2.1 in English Literature at the same institution. I am hugely passionate about both literature and teaching. I believe it is as important to listen to your student as it is to give them new knowledge. I aim to improve a student's confidence in their own abilities and hopefully inspire an enjoyment of reading and thinking about the media which we consume.

I aim to be a friendly face who can be an aid to anyone's needs, whether they simply want to pass the subject or want to be challenged in the subject. I can deliver both.

About the lesson

I am a friendly and conscientious tutor who approaches learning as a two-way street. I focus on building practical exam and essay skills which allow the student to become independent and empowered.

I offer 1-hour sessions for both GCSE and A Level students (although I can be flexible with this), primarily online which allows for us to share documents easily and quickly. I set timed essays as homework and I mark them for the next session so we are continuously building upon the students' work and I can provide detailed and personal feedback, which in my experience is the key to improvements in grades.

I have tutored since January 2024 and have had many students improve their grades by 1 or 2 grades but more importantly leave our sessions feeling more confident in their own skills and opinions. I always want students to have their opinions heard and their ideas valued. This creativity is key to the English Literature and Language courses at both GCSE and A Level.
