About Miriam
I am a student at the University of York studying a joint honours in English literature and Philosophy. I absolutely love English and related areas so I am looking to share my knowledge and experience of the subject with others. Due to my age and current experience I am able to transfer skills I have from my own educational career. I have been studying and taking exams for numerous years and so I am able to offer specialised skills for essays and examination preparation including revision techniques. These techniques have helped me to succeed, allowing me to achieve A*s at both GCSE and A Level, and I am determined to help others to utilise them to do the same. I have recently done this by helping a student to prepare a speech for his GCSE English course after which he attained a distinction.

I always initially ensure to grasp a full understanding of the topic and what the topic requires of the student by researching past papers, mark schemes and examiners reports. This ensures that I know exactly what an examiner is looking for and thus how to approach the exam and how to achieve certain grades. This can then be applied to a student's work of which I will assess and compare to the mark schemes, examiner's reports and subject outlines. This then identifies specific areas to improve to boost a grade to the next boundary and beyond, and to allow the student to know exactly what the exam is asking for in the response. This is suited to not only writing and essay skills but the content of the course of which, from my prior research and experience, I am extremely knowledgeable of. I always ensure to address any areas that the student is struggling with as priority and to help them build their confidence in their own ability as a result.
